Royal Astronomical Society
of Canada, which is dedicated to bringing information about
astronomy to the general public.
At dusk in the south western sky the Crescent Moon could be
seen directly below Venus. The planet was shining brilliantly
at magnitude - 4.5 in spite of its 45% phase. Telescope users
have been able to observe this crescent phase of Venus all month.

The Crescent Moon and Venus on February 26th
On February 26th there was a conjunction of the Crescent Moon
and Venus. The phase of Venus was a mere 22%. The sky was hazy
but this digital image was still possible captured using 1/2 second
at f/3.9 exposure, effective speed of sensor ISO 100, Nikon Coolpix
